Efficient and accurate adaptive resolution for weakly-compressible SPH

In this paper we propose an accurate, and computationally efficient method for incorporating adaptive spatial resolution into weakly-compressible Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) schemes. Particles are adaptively split merged in accurate manner. Critically, the ensures that number of neighbors each particle is optimal, leading to algorithm. A set background particles used specify either geometry-based resolution, where a function distance solid body, or solution-based computed solution. This allows us simulate problems using having length variations order 1:250 with much fewer than currently reported other techniques. The designed automatically adapt when any bodies move. algorithms employed fully parallel. We consider suite benchmark demonstrate accuracy approach. then classic problem flow past circular cylinder at range Reynolds numbers show proposed produces results significantly reduced particles. provide open source implementation reproducible manuscript.
